Meet Joline Cruz. Joline is the Administrative Director at the OCLF. Joline was born in the City of Bell Gardens and now lives with her husband and son in the City of Bell. When not holding down the fort at the office, Joline loves spending time with her very supportive husband and young son. Known as the happiest person in the office, Joline’s personality and joy is contagious and brings a great balance to all the hard work and passion in the OCLF offices.
After attending Mt. San Antonio Community College fate brought Joline into the labor movement working as part of former OCLF Director Tefere Gebre’s admin team. She fell in love with organized labor and its mission!
“I’ve always been a very caring, determined and hard working person. In a household of eight (8) you have to be. Life wasn’t easy and money was always tight, but we always had each other. Now, being part of the O.C. Labor family allows me to be who I am, to fight for what I believe in and to change the lives of so many others around me.”
With over 90 different unions from different sectors, everyday is still a learning experience for Joline. From polices to campaigns to organizing and fighting to raise the minimum wage, it not only seems like the work is never ending – it isn’t. Not until we build real influence and respect for working people in Orange County and America. Joline’s work is crucial to building the kind of labor federation that has the type of operation needed to take on this challenge.
As the Administrative Director, Joline’s job is to make sure the operations and administration of the OCLF is smooth and effective. It was not just Joline’s journey to get join us, it was her journey to help us grow. She loves being part of such a fast and growing labor federation. And we are thankful to have her.
