Orange County Central Labor Council Endorses Tom Umberg for Supervisor Seat

Orange, CA. The Orange County Central Labor Council has endorsed Tom Umberg in the Special Election for County Supervisor. The seat was vacated when Lou Correa was elected to the 34th State Senate District.

“Tom Umberg has a strong track record of fighting for Orange County’s working families,” said Al Ybarra, Executive Secretary Treasure of the Orange County Central Labor Council.

“The best choice for our members and for all Orange County voters is to elect Tom Umberg as our Supervisor, where he can lead the way on issues that matter to men and women who live and work in the County.  For example, the right to health care and a voice in the workplace are critical issues for all of Orange County’s working families.  Umberg has a proven track record of standing up for the freedom to join a union and to have affordable health care,” Ybarra said.

The Central Labor Council Executive Board voted to endorse Umberg for the February 6th Election..

Rick Eiden, President of the Central labor council and Executive Vice President of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 324 added “In the November election, we proved that the united voice of our members plays a powerful  role in deciding who wins elections in the region.  The men and women who work every day to make Orange County a great place to live have proven  that candidates need to listen to working people, not just corporate interests if they want to get elected here,” Eiden said.

The Orange County Central Labor Council is the largest labor organization in the Orange County and the political voice for Orange County’s working families.  The Labor Council is an umbrella organization that includes Local unions that represent more than 115,000 workers from many industries and sectors.  More than 27,000 union voters reside within the 1st Supervisorial District.
