Orange County Labor Federation’s Members Keep Communities from Going Hungry

– AFL-CIO COVID-19 Pandemic Daily Brief | May 6, 2020
Over the past four weeks, the Orange County Labor Federation has held eight different food distribution events, each one feeding some 600 families. These food drives have been held in partnership with the Orange County (OC) Food Bank. Volunteers from affiliate unions and labor federation staff are running the food banks. For example, members of the United Union of Roofers and Waterproofers Local 220 have stepped up, lending flatbed trucks from their union contractors to pick up large quantities of food. UFCW Local 324 and UNITE HERE Local 11 also have helped to deliver pallets of food from the OC Food Bank to the Orange County Labor Federation food drives.
